I've just gotten a used Nikon R10 Super Zoom camera, and when i got it, everything seemed to work fine. When i was shooting one day, however, when i would point the camera upwards, something in the lens would "drop back" and everything would go out of focus, and i would no longer be able to see the light either. I don't know if its something wrong with the lens, or maybe the power supply or what. Any help on this would be much appreciated as i'm planning on shooting with it again tomorrow night. Thank you.

a good scenario: The mirror that reflects light to the viewfinder (glue might have failed) (cost to repair: $70-$200)

bad scenraio: something closer to the shutter/film plane fell off...

if that is case... a moment of silence....
unless you are desperate and want it to get it fixed... there is a good chance that it will cost you more than the camera and you will need to find an expert with Nikon R10. Most Super8 experts where B&H, Nizo, Beaulieu and Canons
(How much did you pay for it?)

If you are looking for a high end Super8 cams contact me. I got a Nizo Pro (Crystal Sync'd) and 6080 up for sale.

But first and foremost, I do hope that Nikon is fixable. Such demise of a legendary cam does not bode well for Super8.

Don't know if this might provide any more clue, but if i shake the camera forward, it will most of the time come back in focus, and sometimes, when i point upwards, its fine, so i think the glue might possibly be the best answer. now i just need a place to fix it. any suggestions? i live in birmingham, alabama. Anywhere close to here (in the southeastern region of the US) would be fine, i don't mind a little driving. Thanks.

this is a long shot. dug this out of the ole' note book:
Mail Order Camera Repair (915)676-2524 email: [email protected]
it's an old ad from a shutterbug magazine. maybe 1997....don't know if they are still in business or not. i never used them. they're in texas and the ad proudly states that they do super8 movie camera repair.
you might want to do an internet search under camera repair. you'll get hundreds of listings, and you may have to email dozens before you get a positive reply. try contacting all the people who repair nikons.
